Thalaivii Box Office Earnings

Kangana Ranaut’s latest flick Thalaivii was released on Friday. According to some sources, film reviewers praised the picture, but the film’s weekend box office performance did not reflect this.

There were less screens for Thalaivii in North India than in South India, owing to the absence of the Hindi version by major multiplex chains such as PVR Cinemas, INOX Leisure Ltd, and Cinepolis. This was a crucial factor in the film’s slow start.

According to Box Office India, it grossed between Rs 20 and Rs 25 lakhs in Hindi circuits and Rs 80 lakhs in Tamil Nadu circuits, totaling Rs 1.25 crore. Bollywood Hungama reports that the Hindi version made Rs 20 lakh on the film’s first day.

Thalaivii is a biography of late politician and actor J Jayalalithaa. The film chronicles the development of an ace performer into a politician during her stint as Tamil Nadu’s chief minister. Arvind Swamy reprises his role as MGR in Kangana’s flick. Additionally, the film stars Bhagyashree, Prakash Raj, and Jisshu Sengupta.

Review of the film Thalaivii

Thalaivii, Kangana Ranaut’s latest film, has debuted to a dismal 1.25 crores. J Jayalalithaa is a film made by AL Vijay on the late Tamil Nadu chief minister.

According to Box Office India, Thalaivii grossed $1.25 crore throughout the nation. In comparison to Hindi markets, the film performed better in South Indian markets.

In Hindi centres, the film grossed an estimated *20 to 25 lakhs, with Delhi, Gujarat, and Uttar Pradesh contributing the most. The film grossed a stunning *80 lakh at the Tamil Nadu box office.

Because Maharashtra is yet to restore cinema venues after the second Covid-19 wave, Thalaivii and other films like Shang-Chi and the Ten Rings, Quick & Furious 9, and Chehre were not released.

BellBottom, starring Akshay Kumar, was the first Bollywood film released after the theatres opened. According to Box Office India, the film made around 2.50 and 2.75 crores. In comparison, Fast & Furious 9 began with a 1.75 crore opening weekend. According to Taran Adarsh, Marvel’s Shang-Chi grossed over 3.25 crores on its opening day.

Despite Hollywood films’ popularity in India, Kangana believes the time has finally come to discourage the production of English and American movies. As Americans and English-language films continue to dominate our screens, we must work to prevent their development. Maintaining our nation’s unity is critical. Northern and Southern India must put an end to their divisions. Kangana recently said at a news conference, as published by PTI, that “we must first indulge in own films, whether Malayalam, Telugu, Telugu or Punjabi.”

Along with ruining French, Italian, German, and other sectors via its worldwide monopoly, Kangana said, “Hollywood is doing the same thing here.” This is the only way for us to create an Atmanirbhar Bharat. Examining dubbed versions of Lion King or Jungle Book rather than a Malayalam film would not help us. We must prioritise our people and industry.”

Without a doubt, a film could have been created on Jayalalitha’s life. After seeing Kangana Ranaut’s deft blend of sensitivity and hauteur in Thalaivii, it’s evident that this role is hers. How would the film have fared with a Tamil lead woman familiar with the language and body language? “The matter has been resolved.”
